Counter-battery operations

Counter-battery operations are military tactics used to detect and target an enemy's artillery and mortar units. When an opponent fires artillery, specialized sensors and reconnaissance gather information about the source of the fire. Once identified, friendly forces quickly respond by launching their own artillery or other precision weapons to neutralize or destroy the enemy’s artillery positions. The goal is to reduce the enemy’s firepower and protect friendly forces and civilians from ongoing artillery attacks. This process requires coordination, rapid intelligence gathering, and precise weaponry to effectively disrupt the enemy’s indirect fire capabilities.
