Council of the Republic of Poland in Exile
The Council of the Republic of Poland in Exile was a government-in-exile formed during World War II after Poland was occupied by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. It aimed to represent Poland’s sovereignty and coordinate resistance efforts outside the country. Based mainly in London, it served as a symbolic authority and a point of contact for allied governments and Polish resistance groups. Although it had limited practical power, it symbolized ongoing Polish sovereignty and national unity during occupation until the communists took control of Poland in 1945.
