Council of the Federation

The Council of the Federation is a collective body of Canada’s provincial and territorial premiers, established in 2003 to promote collaboration among them and with the federal government. It provides a platform for premiers to discuss common issues, share ideas, and coordinate policies on matters of national importance such as health, economy, and environment. While it does not have legislative power, it influences federal-provincial relations and helps foster consensus on key issues affecting Canada’s regions. Its goal is to enhance cooperation and ensure provincial and territorial perspectives are considered in national decision-making.
