Council of the Church

A Council of the Church is a formal gathering of bishops, church leaders, and sometimes other members, convened to discuss and address important doctrinal, moral, or organizational issues affecting the Church. These councils help clarify beliefs, resolve conflicts, and guide Church practices. They can be local, regional, or worldwide (ecumenical), with ecumenical councils having the highest authority. Decisions made at these councils shape teachings, policies, and the direction of the Church, ensuring unity and doctrinal integrity across the Christian community.
