Council of Ragusa
The Council of Ragusa was a significant diplomatic assembly held in 1435 in the Republic of Ragusa (modern-day Dubrovnik). It aimed to resolve regional conflicts and promote cooperation among nearby states, including Venice, the Ottoman Empire, and regional Christian powers. The council focused on establishing peace, trade agreements, and mutual defense strategies in a volatile era marked by Ottoman expansion and internal instability. While not an official church council, it played a key role in maintaining stability and navigating complex political relationships in Southeastern Europe during the 15th century.
