Council of People's Commissars

The Council of People's Commissars (Sovnarkom) was the government leadership body of Soviet Russia from 1917 to 1946. It functioned like a cabinet, overseeing different government departments to implement policies after the Bolshevik Revolution. Led initially by Vladimir Lenin, it coordinated efforts in areas such as defense, economics, education, and industry, shaping early Soviet governance. The Sovnarkom played a key role in establishing communist rule and enacting reforms, serving as the executive authority before being replaced by the Council of Ministers in 1946.
