Cossine (Cosine)
Cosine is a mathematical function that relates an angle in a right-angled triangle to the ratio of two of its sides. Specifically, it measures how far along the horizontal axis (adjacent side) the point associated with that angle extends relative to the hypotenuse (the longest side). In a circle, cosine corresponds to the x-coordinate of a point moving around the circle as the angle changes. It's fundamental in trigonometry, helping describe periodic phenomena like waves, oscillations, and rotations, by linking angles to linear measurements in a consistent, predictable way.
