cortical visual areas
Cortical visual areas are regions in the brain's visual cortex responsible for processing visual information received from the eyes. After light hits the retina and signals are sent through the optic nerve, these areas analyze different aspects of what we see, such as shapes, colors, movement, and depth. The primary visual cortex, located at the back of the brain, begins this processing. Surrounding areas then interpret more complex features, helping us recognize objects, understand spatial relationships, and perceive motion. Together, these regions work seamlessly to create our rich experience of visual reality.
