Cortical Reorganization

Cortical reorganization is the brain's ability to adapt by changing how its regions connect and function, often in response to injury, experience, or learning. When certain areas are damaged or unused, nearby or different parts of the brain can take over their roles, helping preserve or regain skills. For example, after a stroke, the brain can rewire itself to improve movement or speech. This adaptability plays a key role in recovery and learning, demonstrating the brain's remarkable plasticity in reorganizing itself to meet new demands or compensate for impairments.
