Cortical processing

Cortical processing refers to how the brain's outer layer, called the cerebral cortex, interprets information from our senses and coordinates thoughts, actions, and perception. When you see, hear, touch, or think, signals are sent to the cortex, which analyzes patterns, recognizes objects, and makes decisions. This complex processing allows us to understand our environment, learn, and respond appropriately. The cortex is organized into areas that specialize in different functions, working together to create our conscious experience and enable complex behaviors.
