Corner kick
A corner kick is awarded in soccer when the ball crosses the goal line (but not into the net) after last being touched by a defender. The attacking team gets to kick the ball back into play from the corner of the field nearest to where the ball went out. It’s a strategic opportunity to create scoring chances, often aimed at teammates in a good position to shoot on goal. The kick is taken from the corner arc, and opponents must stay at least 10 yards away until the ball is kicked.
