Corneal healing
Corneal healing is the process by which the front surface of the eye repairs itself after injury or irritation. When the cornea is damaged, cells around the wound quickly work to close the gap, guided by growth factors that promote cell migration and new cell growth. Blood vessels do not normally grow into the cornea, so healing relies on rapid cell movement and regeneration. This process helps restore clarity and function, typically within a few days to a week, depending on the severity. Proper care and avoiding infection are essential to ensure smooth healing and prevent scarring that could impair vision.
