Corneal Endothelial Cells

Corneal endothelial cells line the inner surface of the cornea, the transparent front part of the eye. They play a crucial role in maintaining corneal clarity by regulating fluid and pump out excess water from the cornea’s layers. Healthy endothelial cells ensure the cornea remains clear, allowing light to pass through and enabling clear vision. Unlike other cells, these don’t regenerate well, so damage or loss of these cells can lead to swelling, cloudy vision, and potential vision loss. Protecting these cells is vital for maintaining healthy, transparent eyes.
