Corneal Ectasia
Corneal ectasia is a condition where the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye, becomes progressively thin and bulges outward, disrupting its normal shape. This distortion can cause vision problems like distortion, blurriness, or glare. Often, it occurs after eye surgeries such as LASIK, but can also develop due to individual weakness in the corneal tissue. The condition compromises the cornea’s ability to focus light properly, leading to visual impairment. Treatment options range from specialized contact lenses to surgical procedures aimed at stabilizing the cornea and improving vision.
