Coriolis force
The Coriolis force is an apparent force caused by Earth's rotation that affects moving objects on its surface. As the planet spins, objects traveling across it appear to curve rather than move in a straight line. For example, air currents and ocean currents are deflected: in the Northern Hemisphere, they tend to turn right, and in the Southern Hemisphere, left. This effect is essential for understanding weather patterns, such as the rotation of storms, and occurs because the Earth's surface is rotating underneath moving objects, creating an apparent force that influences their paths.
