Cordyceps

Cordyceps are a genus of parasitic fungi known for infecting insects and other arthropods. They grow inside their hosts, ultimately killing and mummifying them, and then produce fruiting bodies that emerge from the carcass. In traditional medicine, especially in China, Cordyceps are valued for their purported health benefits, including boosting energy, enhancing stamina, and supporting immune function. Scientifically, they contain compounds like polysaccharides and cordycepin, which are studied for their potential antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. While promising, more research is needed to fully understand their medicinal effects.
