Coptotermes formosanus, commonly known as the Formosan subterranean termite, is a highly destructive termite species originating from East Asia. It forms extensive underground colonies and constructs mud tubes to access food sources like wood and structural materials. These termites can cause significant damage to buildings and wood infrastructure, often unnoticed until severe. They are social insects with a caste system, including workers, soldiers, and reproductive termites (kings and queens).
