Copepoda

Copepoda is an order of tiny crustaceans, widely distributed in freshwater and marine environments. They are an essential part of aquatic ecosystems, serving as a primary food source for many larger creatures like fish and whales. Copepods are characterized by a segmented body, a single eye, and antennae used for swimming. Despite their small size—often just a few millimeters—they play a vital role in the food chain and contribute to the health of aquatic habitats by helping recycle nutrients and maintain ecological balance.
