Copenhagen Climate Accord

The Copenhagen Climate Accord, reached in 2009, was an international agreement where nearly 200 countries committed to taking action against climate change. It aimed to limit global temperature rise to below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, with efforts to keep it under 1.5°C. The accord encouraged countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through voluntary targets, promote sustainable development, and provide financial support to help developing nations adapt and transition to cleaner energy. Although not legally binding, it was a significant step toward global cooperation on climate issues, fostering shared responsibility and laying groundwork for future climate agreements.
