Coordination Sphere

The coordination sphere refers to the central atom or ion in a complex compound and all the surrounding molecules or ions (called ligands) that are directly bonded to it. Think of it as the core of a puzzle piece with its neighboring pieces attached. These ligands influence properties like reactivity and stability. The entire arrangement helps define the shape and functionality of the complex.
