Coordinate Geometry

Coordinate geometry, also known as analytic geometry, is a branch of mathematics that uses a grid system called a coordinate system to define and analyze geometric shapes. It combines algebra and geometry by assigning numerical values (coordinates) to points on a plane. For example, in a two-dimensional system, each point is identified by two numbers (x, y), representing its position relative to horizontal (x-axis) and vertical (y-axis) lines. This approach allows mathematicians to calculate distances, angles, and other properties of shapes, enabling a precise understanding of their relationships and forms.
