Cooperative Institute for Research and Education

The Cooperative Institute for Research and Education (CIRES) is a partnership between the University of Colorado and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). It brings together scientists from both organizations to study Earth's atmosphere, weather, and climate. CIRES conducts research to improve weather forecasts, understand climate change, and protect environmental health. By combining academic expertise with government resources, it advances scientific knowledge and provides valuable information to help society prepare for and respond to environmental challenges. In essence, CIRES is a collaborative effort to better understand our planet and support informed decision-making.
