Conventional Metaphor

A conventional metaphor is a common way of understanding one thing in terms of another, based on shared or associated qualities, and it’s widely accepted so that it’s embedded in everyday language. For example, phrases like "time is money" or "heart of the matter" are conventional metaphors because they use familiar comparisons that have become part of our regular speech. These metaphors help us communicate complex or abstract ideas more clearly by linking them to familiar concepts, making understanding quicker and more intuitive. They are "conventional" because they are stable, widely recognized, and used repeatedly over time.
