A control surface is the set of physical devices—such as knobs, sliders, buttons, and switches—used by an operator to interact with and adjust a piece of equipment or software. In audio engineering, for example, a control surface allows sound engineers to modify volume, tone, and effects without directly touching the mixing console or computer screen. It provides a tactile and intuitive way to manage complex systems, making adjustments more efficient, precise, and hands-on, especially during live performances or detailed editing sessions.
