Contributions to cell theory

Cell theory is a foundational scientific idea that explains living organisms are made up of cells. Key contributors include Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann, who in the 1830s discovered that plants and animals are composed of cells, establishing that cells are basic units of life. Rudolf Virchow later added that all cells come from existing cells. Their combined work showed that cells are the building blocks of life, guiding biological research and understanding for centuries.
