Contrast-induced nephropathy

Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is a temporary kidney problem that can occur after exposure to certain dyes or contrast agents used in imaging tests like CT scans or angiograms. These agents help doctors see inside the body but can sometimes impair kidney function, especially in people with existing kidney issues or other risk factors. CIN usually develops within a few days of the procedure and often improves on its own, but in some cases, it can lead to more serious kidney damage. Preventive measures, such as staying well-hydrated, can help reduce the risk.
