Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) is a medical procedure used to flush the bladder with a sterile fluid, usually to prevent or treat blood clots after surgery or injury. A catheter is inserted into the bladder, and a specialized IV line delivers a steady flow of irrigation fluid. The fluid helps remove blood, debris, or clots, keeping the bladder clear and functioning properly. The excess fluid, along with any loosened material, drains out through a separate tube. This process is carefully monitored by healthcare providers to ensure the bladder stays clean and that the patient recovers smoothly.
