Continental Divide

The Continental Divide is a natural boundary in North America where water on one side flows toward the Pacific Ocean, and on the other side, it flows toward the Atlantic Ocean (via the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic). It often follows mountainous regions like the Rockies and separates river systems that drain in opposite directions. This divide influences the flow of rivers and is significant for geography, ecology, and water management, highlighting how the continent’s terrain directs water movement across vast areas.
