Contact transmission

Contact transmission occurs when a virus or bacteria is spread through direct or indirect physical contact. Direct contact is when you touch an infected person or their bodily fluids, like shaking hands or kissing. Indirect contact happens when you touch surfaces, objects, or materials contaminated with pathogens, such as doorknobs, towels, or mobile phones. For many illnesses, including colds or COVID-19, proper hand hygiene, regular cleaning, and avoiding close contact with infected individuals can significantly reduce the risk of transmission through contact.
