The Indian Constitutional Assembly was a body formed in 1946 to draft the Constitution of India, guiding the country's governance. Comprising elected representatives, lawyers, and leaders, it worked through detailed debates and discussions to frame laws ensuring sovereignty, democracy, fundamental rights, and justice. The Assembly met regularly until the Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949, and came into effect on January 26, 1950. Its work was fundamental in shaping India’s political framework and establishing the principles of its federal structure, parliamentary system, and civil liberties.
