Constituents are the people or groups that a politician, representative, or official serves or represents. They are the residents or members of a specific geographic area, like a district or region, who rely on their representative to voice their concerns, advocate for their interests, and make decisions that impact their community. Essentially, constituents are the polis or members of a community who choose someone to act on their behalf in government or decision-making bodies.
