Constantine von Tischendorf was a 19th-century theologian and biblical scholar best known for discovering and preserving ancient manuscripts of the Bible. In 1844, he found a prized fragment of the Gospel of John called the Codex Sinaiticus at a monastery on Mount Sinai. This manuscript is one of the oldest nearly complete copies of the Christian Bible, providing valuable insights into biblical history and text transmission.
