Constantine I (Emperor Constantine)

Constantine I, also known as Emperor Constantine the Great, was a Roman ruler who reigned from 306 to 337 AD. He is known for being the first Roman emperor to convert to Christianity, which helped the religion gain acceptance across the empire. Constantine uniquely combined military strength with political innovation, notably issuing the Edict of Milan in 313 AD, which ended Christian persecution. He also founded the city of Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul), making it a new capital and major civilization center. His rule significantly shaped both the Roman Empire's future and the spread of Christianity in Europe.
