Constans II

Constans II was a Byzantine emperor who ruled from 641 to 668 AD. He was known for his attempts to stabilize the empire during a time of external pressures, including wars with the Persian Empire and the rise of Islam. Constans II enacted various reforms and sought to consolidate power, moving the capital from Rome to Constantinople. His reign was marked by internal strife, notably conflicts with the church over religious policies. He was also the last emperor to visit Italy, which marked the decline of Byzantine influence in the region. His leadership was characterized by both military challenges and administrative reforms.
