consignor

A consignor is a person or business that owns goods and temporarily hands them over to another party, called a consignee, to sell on their behalf. The consignor retains ownership until the items are sold. This arrangement is common in retail, such as clothing or furniture stores, where the consignor benefits by reaching more customers without managing sales directly. Once the items sell, the consignee takes a fee or commission and passes the remaining money back to the consignor. Essentially, the consignor supplies products for sale, trusting the consignee to handle the selling process.
