Consent and Capacity Board

The Consent and Capacity Board (CCB) is an independent body in Ontario that makes decisions about a person’s ability to understand and make healthcare, treatment, or financial decisions. It protects people’s rights, ensuring they are not treated without proper consent if they have the capacity to decide for themselves. The CCB also handles cases where there are concerns about a person’s mental capacity, such as in cases of mental illness or cognitive impairment. It reviews situations, listens to all parties involved, and makes fair, lawful decisions to support individuals’ well-being and autonomy.
