Consejo de Seguridad

The Consejo de Seguridad, or Security Council, is a key part of the United Nations responsible for maintaining international peace and security. It consists of 15 member countries—five are permanent members with veto power (United States, China, Russia, France, and the United Kingdom) and ten are elected for two-year terms. The Council can authorize peacekeeping missions, impose sanctions, or take military action to resolve conflicts. Its decisions aim to prevent violence and promote stability worldwide, acting as an authoritative body that coordinates global responses to threats against peace.
