The Conquista de México refers to the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire led by Hernán Cortés between 1519 and 1521. Cortés and his allies, including indigenous groups hostile to the Aztecs, skillfully used alliances, superior weaponry, and strategic tactics to defeat the powerful Aztec ruler Moctezuma II. The conquest resulted in the fall of Tenochtitlán, the Aztec capital, and the establishment of New Spain.
