Conquest of Gaul

The Conquest of Gaul was Julius Caesar’s military campaign from 58 to 50 BCE, in which he expanded the Roman Republic’s territory by conquering Gaul (modern France and surrounding regions). Through strategic battles and alliances, Caesar defeated various Gallic tribes, establishing Roman control. This campaign significantly increased Caesar’s power, helped him gain wealth and fame, and laid the groundwork for the Roman Empire’s dominance in Western Europe. It is also famously documented in Caesar’s own writings, *Commentarii de Bello Gallico*.
