Conivaptan

Conivaptan is a medication used to treat conditions where the body retains too much water, such as in heart failure or certain medical tests. It works by blocking specific hormones called vasopressin receptors, which normally signal the kidneys to conserve water. By doing so, conivaptan helps the kidneys remove excess water and dilute the blood, reducing swelling and lowering blood pressure caused by fluid overload. It’s usually given through an IV in a hospital setting and is carefully monitored to ensure safe and effective treatment.
