Congolese National Movement

The Congolese National Movement (Mouvement National Congolais or MNC) was a political party established in the early 1950s in the Belgian Congo. Led by Patrice Lumumba, it aimed to achieve independence from Belgian colonial rule and promote national unity and development. The MNC became a key player in the struggle for independence, which was finally granted in 1960. However, after independence, political instability ensued, leading to Lumumba’s assassination and significant turmoil in the Congo. The MNC's legacy is closely tied to the fight for self-determination and the complex political history of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
