Congo Reform Association

The Congo Reform Association was an organization founded in the early 20th century, primarily in response to the severe abuses and exploitation occurring in the Congo Free State, which was privately controlled by King Leopold II of Belgium. The association aimed to raise awareness about human rights violations, including forced labor and violence against the local population, and to advocate for reforms in Congo's governance. Led by prominent figures like Edmund Morel and Roger Casement, it worked to mobilize public opinion and pressure governments to take action, ultimately contributing to the end of Leopold's rule in 1908.
