Congenital myopathy
Congenital myopathy is a group of inherited muscle disorders present at birth that cause muscle weakness and difficulty with movement. These conditions result from abnormal development or structure of muscle fibers, leading to reduced muscle strength. Symptoms can include floppy muscles, delayed motor skills, and sometimes breathing or swallowing difficulties. The severity varies, and while there's no cure, management focuses on physical therapy, respiratory support, and adaptive strategies to improve quality of life. Congenital myopathies are diagnosed through clinical exams, muscle tests, and sometimes genetic analysis, helping guide appropriate treatment and support.
