Conflict of the Orders

The Conflict of the Orders was a political struggle in ancient Rome between the plebeians (common people) and patricians (aristocrats). Plebeians wanted more power and protections, such as legal rights and political representation, while patricians wanted to maintain their exclusive authority. Over time, they fought for and gained important rights through compromises, like the creation of the Plebeian Tribune, who could veto unfair laws. This conflict ultimately helped develop a more balanced, representative government that included voices from all social classes.
