Confederation of Bar

The Confederation of Bar was a planned assembly of Hungarian noble representatives in 1708 during the early stages of the Rákóczi's War of Independence, aiming to unify noble opposition against Habsburg rule. Although it was never officially convened due to the suppression of the uprising, it signified a collective effort among Hungarian nobles to resist foreign domination and seek greater autonomy. The Confederation symbolized national resistance and the desire for self-governance, becoming an important reference point in Hungary’s history of struggles for independence.
