Confederation Helvetica, better known as Switzerland, is a country in Central Europe made up of 26 semi-autonomous regions called cantons. It functions as a federal state with a high degree of local self-governance, balanced by a central government. Switzerland is known for its political neutrality, multilingual culture (German, French, Italian, Romansh), and strong tradition of direct democracy, allowing citizens to participate actively in decision-making. Its name, “Helvetica,” derives from Latin, reflecting its historical connection to the region of Helvetii.
