Confederalism

Confederalism is a political system where separate, semi-autonomous regions or states voluntarily join together in a loose alliance, delegating only certain powers to a central authority. Each member retains significant independence and controls its own laws, policies, and governance. The central authority generally manages shared concerns like defense or trade, but its power is limited and depends on the agreement of member regions. This system emphasizes regional sovereignty while allowing cooperation on specific issues, contrasting with more centralized governments where authority is concentrated at the national level.
