Cone Beam versus Conventional CT
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and Conventional CT are both imaging techniques used to create detailed pictures of the body's structures. CBCT uses a cone-shaped X-ray beam to capture multiple images from different angles in a single rotation, resulting in 3D images, which are particularly useful in dental and orthopedic fields. Conventional CT, on the other hand, uses a fan-shaped X-ray beam and typically requires multiple rotations to create cross-sectional images. CBCT generally exposes patients to lower radiation doses and is more compact, while Conventional CT offers greater detail for complex medical conditions.
