Condorcet criterion
The Condorcet criterion is a way to judge voting systems by their ability to pick the candidate who would win in head-to-head matches against every other candidate. Imagine each candidate is tested directly against each competitor, and the one who beats all others is the preferred choice. If a voting method always chooses this candidate when they exist, it satisfies the Condorcet criterion. This approach aims to select the candidate with the broadest support, reflecting the most preferred option across different voters' preferences, ensuring the winner is the most broadly acceptable.
