Conditioning Regimen
A conditioning regimen is a treatment plan used before procedures like stem cell transplants to prepare the body. It involves using high-dose chemotherapy, sometimes combined with radiation, to destroy diseased or cancerous cells. This process also suppresses the immune system to reduce the risk of rejecting the new, healthy cells introduced during the transplant. By doing so, it creates an environment where the new stem cells can settle in and grow properly, increasing the chances of a successful treatment outcome.
